Just before the service started Bethany looked out and saw Lorri in the congregation! (we didn't have a piano player this morning) We asked Lorri to play with us... it was really great to have her... and this was the perfect day!
It was great to be there. Thank you for the gift of playing.
I was having a conversation (discussion, argument) with God about a month ago; asking him for one, what do I do with my hands during worship(aren't they supposed to be doing something with white and black on a horizontal surface expressing emotion to Him?); and two; how long did He expect me to do this?
I heard two very definite things:
1) Give it a year, see what I (God) want to do. and,
2) He gave me a picture of Life Center when Val and I were the ages of Steven and Becca: A bunch of 25-35 year old couples with young kids, being elders, ministry leaders, worship leaders, home group leaders, etc. They had the last names of Hovet, Cooper, Sheldon, Ward; Glogau, etc. The word He gave me was: How in the world did I expect the next generation of leaders to be raised up if "the old guard" wouldn't move a little to make room? Not that they had to vacate, but in some circumstances (and I think specifically of the worship team), some empty spaces had to be created for new leadership to fill the need. I see a lot of wonderful new leadership (and not just in worship) arising. Their last names are different (yet have same roots): Russell, Wages, Ness, Jefferson, etc. I think Life Center would be missing out if that leadership were stifled by their parents.
God has great things in store for all of us who are obiedient, even if we don't always understand the whys of when and how.

wow. Yes... that has been the consequence of vacancies in a couple of key places. There is risk in change... but, ironically I feel that the young families that you listed have a passion for the same vision that you guys did. (based on conversations I've had with the "old guard") We've inherited the very strong and living foundation that you guys laid down all those years ago.
